Bob just pointed out to me that the one I have is essentially the same as the downloadable one from the registry, in a different format.

Hi all,

The RSC has access to a spreadsheet with all of the soft deprecating elements. I've made a copy in google sheets with a link that will force you to make your own copy, but am waiting on confirmation that I can share the link.

Given the multiplicity of time zones, I may not get an answer right away. In the meantime, you can also locate all soft-deprecated elements in the Official RDA Toolkit by searching (quotation marks included): "The following option is recommended"

You should get 116 results.

They are all listed on the second page of the survey itself, so I think one way to do what you are suggesting would be to start the survey (the only requirement to get past the first page is to enter your email) and then you can print out or otherwise capture the second page.

Hi Bob,

Is there a complete list of all of the soft-deprecated terms available? Since there is such a large number of terms in this category, it would be helpful to consider them holistically before completing the survey. A single document would also be easier to mark up and use to solicit feedback from multiple people if we're completing the survey on behalf of a group or department.

The RDA Steering Committee would like to hear from as many catalogers as possible about the disposition of the so-called "soft-deprecated" elements in "Official" (a.k.a. "new") RDA. These are elements that were in "Original" RDA and that RSC did not remove from Official RDA, but for which there are now other (usually new) elements that RSC thinks are preferable. They can be identified in Official RDA by a Prerecording option that says "The following option is recommended: Record X by using Y element instead" (to paraphrase). RSC needs to know if anyone intends to keep using the "soft-deprecated" elements. If not, they can be removed from RDA. Please participate in the survey-this will be very helpful to RSC. Responses should be given by September 15.

The survey names all the soft deprecated elements and their recommended replacements, so you can go have a look in Official RDA if you want to think more carefully about any individual elements. They are identified by a number, e.g. "P30218", which you can enter into the RDA search box to find the element.

Anyone-individual catalogers as well as agencies-can respond.
