<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">As we head into the final days of DCRM(B) preparation, I want to issue a</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">call for volunteer proofreaders. The text is due to the indexer on</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">Tuesday September 5. We wish to subject DCRM(B) to another round of</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">close reading between September 5 and October 1, when the text is due to</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">the GPO for printing. (November 1 is the date it</FONT><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">'s expected to hit the</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">streets). </FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">Bibliographic Standards members and volunteers from the community did a</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">close reading of the delta version of DCRM(B) in preparation for our</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">public hearing in June 2005. That was a productive and beneficial</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">exercise. For</FONT> <FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">this, the eta version, the main purpose will be to</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">proofread for typos, missing words, inconsistency of punctuation or</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">indentation, and the like. (For example, I just noticed that we</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">sometimes use a colon after "but" and sometimes not when introducing</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">coun</FONT><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">ter-examples). We are not expecting content-related problems</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">(fingers crossed), with the possible exception of rule references--we've</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">been breaking up longer rules with added sub-numbering, and references</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">to them will need to be double- and triple-checked.</FONT><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS"> </FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">Speaking of double and triple-checking, I hope to have enough volunteers</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">in addition to Bib Standards committee members to assign two or three</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial Unicode MS">people to each section. Please let me know if you would like to</FONT></SPAN></P>
