out there knows if there's an appropriate term for this, as I've looked through
the RBMS controlled vocabularies without success. But maybe I'm missing

century Lyonnais imprint in what was once a very nice calf binding, with gold
tooled medallion stamps on the front and back covers. There are also narrow (.75
cm.) gilt banners (scrolls?) above and below each of the medallion stamps. On
the back covers these banners read "Lutetiae" and "1566 … Martii" and on
the front cover are the remains of what I assume are the former owner's first
and last names, although most of both of those have been thoroughly scratched
out. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></P>
