Knights of Columbus Vatican Film Library is an internationally
recognized research library for medieval and Renaissance manuscript
studies. It holds microfilm copies of 37,000 manuscripts from the
Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, comprising major portions of the Latin,
Greek, and Western European vernacular collections, as well as
manuscripts from the Hebrew, Arabic, and Ethiopic collections. The
library additionally holds microfilm copies of 2,500 manuscripts, 52,000
color slides of manuscript illumination, and many early printed books
on microfiche from a variety of other libraries. The library maintains
an extensive reference collection of manuscript catalogs, manuscript
facsimiles, and works on paleography, codicology, illumination, and
textual editing and transmission to support manuscript research.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:11pt;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);background-color:transparent;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline">The Vatican Film Library supports a number of active public programs. Since 1957 it has published </span><span style="font-size:11pt;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);background-color:transparent;font-weight:normal;font-style:italic;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline">Manuscripta</span><span style="font-size:11pt;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);background-color:transparent;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline">,
a journal for medieval and Renaissance manuscript studies. Since 1974
it has organized the annual Saint Louis Conference on Manuscript
Studies, an international two-day conference on medieval and Renaissance
manuscripts. The library also offers a fellowship program for visiting
scholars to make use of its collections. The Vatican Film Library is an
active participant in undergraduate and graduate education at Saint
Louis University and works closely with the university’s Center for
Medieval and Renaissance Studies.</span></p>

Reporting to the Director of the Vatican Film Library, this position
combines both cataloging and public services duties. This position is
responsible for providing original and descriptive cataloging of
medieval and Renaissance manuscripts on microfilm according to AMREMM,
establishing and revising headings in the national authority file
according to NACO policies, applying LC and genre/form headings,
conducting bibliographical research and bibliographical maintenance to
ensure uniform access points, and writing and maintaining cataloging
policies. This position also provides reference services for patrons,
creates finding aids, research guides, and bibliographies for the
collections, and participates in organization of department conferences,
events, and instructional activities. Also provides editorial support
