The Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for the position of Monographic Cataloging Unit Head and Metadata Coordinator. Under the direction of the Book Cataloging Department Head, this position supervises two Library
Assistant III catalogers, coordinates unit workflow, assists in developing and implementing descriptive policy and standards for cataloging of book collections, compiles reports, and functions as part of a team of four Unit Heads in the Book Cataloging Department.
The position also performs original and copy cataloging of modern and rare monographs, including those in non-book formats, and will collaborate with other departments on the cataloging, chiefly in CONTENTdm, of digital collections. The position will occasionally
provide reference services in the Ransom Center’s Reading Room and support other Ransom Center initiatives.<o:p></o:p></p>

Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited program. Minimum of two years’ experience performing complex copy and original monographic cataloging, using national descriptive standards, LC classification and
subject headings, and the MARC format. Good organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work as a team member.<o:p></o:p></p>

Preferred Qualifications: Strong experience using RDA, the RDA Toolkit, AACR2 (revised) and LCRIs, and DCRM(B). Experience using OCLC Connexion and Innovative Interfaces Inc. systems such as Sierra and/or Millennium. Experience cataloging audio-visual formats,
performing authority work, and expressing provenance in catalog records. Experience using CONTENTdm. Demonstrated engagement with the future of bibliographic control. Experience training staff and creating documentation. Supervisory experience, preferably
in a special collections environment. Record of involvement or desire to engage with special collections and other cataloging communities. Reading knowledge of one or more modern European languages.
