<p class="MsoNormal">Does anyone know if there's ever been a campaign to get "United Kingdom" instead of "Great Britain" as the authorized form of the name in the Library of Congress Authorities file?

<p class="MsoNormal">Our practice is to use LC-NAF as our source for the 752, and to start with the top order political jurisdiction. Unfortunately, that means we end up with things like "752 $a Great Britain $b Northern Ireland $d Belfast" which is just plain
wrong. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Maybe time for us to switch to the Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names as our source?<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Having our users search on "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" and getting "See: Great Britain" as the result is embarrassing.<o:p></o:p></p>
