Hi all:

Presently I am inclined to agree with Bob about using LCRI trancription. I
am also concerned that the Medieval Manuscript rules are proposing still a
different system (which I happen to like).  This makes I think for
considerable confusion, and is not helpful to tech. & public service people
who (as at Bancroft) in fact work with a variety of materials from a
variety of periods, not just "early printing," "medieval manuscripts," or
"Latin papyri."

I am quite aware of the varying paleographical/printing rules/practices at
various time periods -- but I feel this is a fine point more appropriate
for self-contained online or printed catalogs, not something that will
reside in a union catalog, such as OCLC, RLIN, Melville, or UC Berkeley.
