Any chance you could photograph and post the pic? I don't know what a
cat's-paw binding is.

Subject: [DCRM-L] Another question: cat's-paw calf binding

Another question about bindings: I just cataloged a bound manuscript
with a cat's-paw calf binding. Is this covered by any of the existing
terms for calf bindings in Binding Terms? The narrow terms under
"Calf bindings" give these choices:

Marbled calf bindings
Mottled calf bindings
Sprinkled calf bindings
Stained calf bindings

Would a binding with a cat's-paw pattern be considered mottled?

Thanks for any thoughts,

Margaret Nichols
