Book Cataloging Department Head
 
The Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at The University of Texas at
Austin seeks an accomplished rare book specialist and dynamic manager for
the position of Book Cataloging Department Head. Under the general direction
of the Executive Associate Director, the Department Head oversees the
operations of the Book Cataloging Department, including directing and
coordinating departmental cataloging, maintenance, preservation, and stack
management activities. Serves as chief rare books cataloger; implements rare
book cataloging standards and best practices; keeps abreast of current
developments in an automated cataloging environment. In concert with the
Associate Director/Librarian manages rare book initiatives including
accessioning, establishing processing priorities, collection disposition,

Salary and Benefits: salary will be commensurate with qualifications and
experience; minimum $55,000. No state or local income tax. Standard state
benefits package including annual vacation and sick leave, paid holidays,

life, disability). Deferred compensation and tax sheltered annuity programs
are also available.
