[DCRM-L] dcrm records in OCLC

When we applied for enhance status I inquired about this and was told to take full (or other) level master records and enhance them to DCRM(B). So that's been my practice. I did point out that maybe some libraries wouldn't want the DCRM(B) record and would prefer the AACR2 one,and so suggested that we be allowed to follow the same principles as the parallel records for foreign language cataloging records, but OCLC did not want to expand the parallel record concept to this.

OCLC documentation does not allow us to input a
new dcrmb or dcrms record when there is already a
full level bibliographic record in the database.
(The documentation says that the absence,
presence, or difference in field and subfield of
040 Cataloging Source ‡e Description conventions
does not justify a new record.)

Could a library with Enhance authorizations
replace a full level record according to dcrm cataloging rules if desired?
