[DCRM-L] Former owner's name on binding

After wondering the same thing, and not finding anything quite right, we
decided to use the local term "Personalized bindings".  We also use the
provenance term "Bindings".  It does seem like an opportunity for a new
thesaurus term.

I'm hoping someone out there knows if there's an appropriate term for
this, as I've looked through the RBMS controlled vocabularies without
success. But maybe I'm missing something?

 

We have a 16th century Lyonnais imprint in what was once a very nice
calf binding, with gold tooled medallion stamps on the front and back
covers. There are also narrow (.75 cm.) gilt banners (scrolls?) above
and below each of the medallion stamps. On the back covers these banners
read "Lutetiae" and  "1566 ... Martii" and on the front cover are the
remains of what I assume are the former owner's first and last names,
although most of both of those have been thoroughly scratched out.  

My question is, is there a form/genre term for bindings such as this,
where the former owner's name is spelled out on the binding? There are
terms for bindings with other provenance clues, such as "Monogrammed
bindings", "Armorial bindings" and the like.  Am I overlooking
something?
