Hello,

The editorial team that's preparing Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials (Manuscripts) has posted a fresh draft of Area 1, and welcomes comments from catalogers of all stripes. Those who are experienced with manuscripts, and most certainly those who are not, are invited to review the document and submit comments.

The turnaround time is brief: comments must be received by Wednesday, June 16 at 5 pm EDT. But we hope a large number of people will be able to respond.

Please review the document for clarity, accuracy, ease of interpretation, and so on. The rules should make sense. Does anything important seem to be missing? How do the rules read in relation to other DCRM modules, whether already-published or currently in the works?

The draft is "Version: Gamma 20100604" and is found here:

http://rbms.info/committees/bibliographic_standards/dcrm/dcrmmss/dcrmmss.html

Please use the subject line "DCRM(MSS)" and send your comments to Margaret Nichols at:

mnr1 at cornell.edu

Again, comments are due on June 16 at 5 pm EDT.

Thank you,
Stephen Skuce
