[DCRM-L] Controlling More Headings in WorldCat

I'm often skeptical of OCLC automated quality control "improvements"! I suspect that IRs will get left out of the mix though, as they are already excluded from OCLC controlled headings.
As for genre headings, probably the only ones that OCLC could control would be ones that had MARC authority records. I believe those are still limited to GSAFD headings which might contain the potential chaos.

Coming down the pike. If I understand correctly, OCLC is developing software to do additional authority control in batch mode (that is, not as part of the cataloging process, but later). 8xx and 655 fields will be now be controlled through that process, in addition to other fields that are currently controlled by Connexion. I don't know if they will try to control subdivisions in 655's, but given the laissez-faire attitude of the rbms controlled vocabularies toward subdivision practice, I'd hate to have changes made through controlling that are perfectly legitimate under the particular thesaurus' principles for use.
