LC's Authorities and Vocabularies Web Service: experimenting with Linked Data

Rebecca Guenther of the Library of Congress will give a presentation about LC's exploration of controlled vocabularies as Linked Data in its Authorities and Vocabularies Web Service (id.loc.gov). It will be held at the LC booth (#2856) during the ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans on Saturday, June 25 from 2:30-3:00pm. The presentation will give background on controlled vocabularies maintained at LC, detail how they are made available and used as Linked Data in the Authorities and Vocabularies Web Service (id.loc.gov), show which vocabularies are available, and discuss upcoming enhancements.  These vocabularies include LCSH, Thesaurus of Graphic Materials, MARC code lists for relators, countries, geographic area codes, ISO language codes and several PREMIS controlled vocabularies.
