Hi everyone,

Forwarded from the Cataloger's Desktop Forum. Please excuse duplication.

Note that the Descriptive Cataloging Manual (DCM) Z1 and the LC
Supplement Guidelines now include new and replacement sections to
provide guidelines and best practices in applying MARC 21 Authority data
elements stimulated by RDA. These data elements are also applicable to
AACR2 authority records.

Subject: [Desktop] Cataloger's Desktop 2012 Issue 1 now online

Colleagues:

I am pleased to report that the 2012 Issue 1 of
Cataloger's Desktop is now online. This issue includes updates to the
following resources:

. Descriptive Cataloging Manual (2012 Update 1)

. Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials (Books) (Corrections)

. Guidelines for Subject Access by National Bibliographic Agencies
(November 2011 release)

. Library of Congress Policy Statements (2012 Update 1)

. MARC 21 Format for Authority Data (LC Guidelines)

The issue also includes many other updates that Cataloger's Desktop's
web crawler picked up in the process of finalizing this issue.

Beginning with 2012 Issue 2 we are adjusting the
release date of Cataloger's Desktop to bring it in sync with the RDA
Toolkit production schedule. What this means is that the next issue is
scheduled for Tuesday, April 10th. All subsequent issues will occur on
the 2nd Tuesday of the month in three-month intervals.

Please let us know if you have any questions or
experience any difficulties with 2012 Issue 1 of Cataloger's Desktop.
Thank you for your continued support.

Bruce
