[DCRM-L] DPC: changing "relator terms" to "relationship designators"

It's cumbersome to say, "Relationship Designators for Persons, Families,
and Corporate Bodies Aassociated with a Resource" but that is the only
type of relationship currently covered by the RBMS Relators list
(Appendix I). Is that too much of a mouthful for a title?

Dear all,

It has been suggested that the terminology throughout the Relator Terms
page be changed from "relator terms" to "relationship designators," to
bring the resource in line with RDA. This would involve changing the
name of the resource from Relator Terms for Use in Rare Book and Special
Collections Cataloging to Relationship Designators for Use in Rare Book
and Special Collections Cataloging. If approved, I think it would be
desirable to update DCRM modules accordingly.

Proposed changes:

1. in the RBMS Controlled Vocabularies, change title of Relator
Terms for Use in Rare Book and Special Collections Cataloging to
Relationship Designators for Use in Rare Book and Special Collections
Cataloging

2. in the RBMS Controlled Vocabularies, change instances of
"relator terms" to "relationship designators"

3. in DCRM modules, change instances of "relator term(s)" to
"relationship designator(s)"

4. in DCRM modules, change instances of "Relator Terms for Use in
Rare Book and Special Collections Cataloging" to "Relationship
Designators for Use in Rare Book and Special Collections Cataloging"

The Relator Terms page in its current state may be seen here:
http://www.rbms.info/committees/bibliographic_standards/controlled_vocabularies/relators/alphabetical_list.htm

Are there any objections or other suggestions? BSC members will be
asked to vote on this change next week.

Thanks,
Ryan
