I agree that silently omitting "Iesus Maria" or "Q.D.B.V." &c. from the description entirely is undesirable. Instead, I would probably add

Perhaps whoever introduced this phrase was thinking of the abbreviation Q. D. T. O. M. B. V.  which often appears at the top of the first page of dissertations, standing for Quod Deus ter optimus maximus bene vertat (Which may God thrice best and greatest direct well), or the shorter form Q.D.B.V.

Leaving it silently out of the entire record would of course frustrate the search of anyone wishing to find out how it was used: when, where, by whom, and how frequently.

A quick glance at OCLC Worldcat shows 10 titles starting with this phrase.
