[DCRM-L] Bad merges of Brown University records in OCLC

In other words, the cataloger-devised 250 can be justified--outside the
scope of rare book rules that forbid it--as a system-specific work-around:
the the only reliable way to maintain the FRBR distinction of
manifestations (which really is the fundamental principle of descriptive
bibliography). As far as I'm concerned, that trumps any rule that would
frustrate that purpose.
