[DCRM-L] BSC vote failed. Comments needed

I didn't vote in favor because I didn't think the charge was ready, and didn't vote against because I thought it was just a matter of clarifying a few things. Perhaps a third option for similar situations?

Did I ever mention how much I hate ALA Connect? I see (now, thanks to Margaret), that it was actually 100% (so far) voted for, rather than against. The layout of that page is bad. Luckily,  it's not used for presidential elections!

So never mind the headline, but the suggestions are still great. I'd still like some feedback on the membership situation.

The vote was 100% against the draft charge written for the Controlled Vocabularies Editorial Group. A couple of individuals made comments and suggestions. I've incorporated those comments into a (slightly) revised charge and an emended statement on membership. Please comment or provide suggestions on these changes by August 7th.

Charge: Under the aegis of the RBMS Bibliographic Standards Committee (BSC), the Controlled Vocabularies Editorial Group is responsible for Controlled Vocabularies for Use in Rare Book and Special Collections Cataloging. The group will develop and maintain content of and access to the RBMS controlled vocabularies.

Comment: The Bibliographic Standards Committee has general oversight of the work of the RBMS Controlled Vocabularies Editorial Group.   

Membership [as approved by BSC in April, 2014]: The group will be co-chaired by two editors, a member of Bibliographic Standards Committee and a member of the Publications & Communications Committee. One editor, appointed by the vice chair/chair elect in consultation with the chair of the Bibliographic Standards Committee, will serve on the Bibliographic Standards Committee and be responsible for content development and editing. The other editor, appointed by the vice chair/chair elect in consultation with the chair of the Publications & Communications Committee and the Bibliographic Standards Committee, will serve on the Publications & Communications Committee with the sole responsibility of creation and maintenance of the infrastructure containing the RBMS Controlled Vocabularies. Each editor's appointment will be a new two-year term appointments apart from his or her original appointment to the Bibliographic Standards Committee and/or the Publications Committee, and may be renewed once for an additional two years. 

[Amendment to membership 7/31/2014]: Members of the Editorial Group will be appointed by the editors and do not need to be members of the Bibliographic Standards Committee. Membership in the Controlled Vocabularies Editorial Group is a two-year appointment, and may be renewed once for an additional two years.
