[DCRM-L] Art Libraries' response to discontinuation of IRs

Shared with Roger Lawson's kind permission.

I'm particularly concerned with both the LDR's lack of visibility within the WorldCat environment and its lack of robustness in terms of actually STORING important local data such as the 541, 561, 787 (we use this to relate individually cataloged items to related collections) and the |5 for locally added tracings (former owners, etc.)

Many, many of our RECON records lack OCLC numbers -we are about to do another reclamation project which will help with that, but our Database manager is going to have to do some fancy MARC Edit footwork to get them into our local records.

Sigh.
