Many thanks to Kathleen Haley of AAS for alerting us to her problem with inappropriately merged records. The appropriate OCLC staff are looking into it. A variety of considerations are involved, so turnaround probably won't be immediate.
Kathleen noted that she would like to see the exemption to deduplication of records that have rare book codes in 040 $e extended to 1900 or 1901. We're eager to hear opinions (with reasoning) from as many voices as possible. Thanks to those who have already weighed in.
Best wishes, Jackie
