Well, I’m not sure if I would consider it tightly trimmed. The margins are: 6mm [top], 13 mm [bottom], 8 mm [fore-edge], gutter too tight to tell.

I've just now seen it listed in digitized c19 catalogs as 18mo, just as unlikely as 32mo. I'd have guessed 24mo, in a French (8/4) variation of the imposition shown by Gaskell for 24 in 12s (the last of the imposition diagrams), which unfolds to a foolscap sheet; but the watermarks wouldn't be where you have them, which does sound like 12mo. I have seen duodecimos that small. Is yours very tightly trimmed?

Dear Nina,
Could you give us the title, perhaps we have the same so that we can take a look ourselves.
And even the BNF might make a mistake ...

Subject: [DCRM-L] 32mo?

Hi all,

I have a 1644 publication, printed in Paris, measuring 11 cm, gathered in 8's and 4's with horizontal chain-lines and a watermark on the fore edge. Normally, I would call this a 12mo, but the only other record for this title is from a batch-load owned by the BNF and they have it down as a 32mo. Bowers and Gaskell (and the internet) are not helping me right now. Could it really be a 32mo?

Thanks for any insight,

Nina
