Anything published in Britain or its dependencies in any language is in scope of ESTC. If these were Canadian publications, they would be solidly in scope.

Just as an aside, I cataloged materials for ESTC in my library school coop way long ago at the then National Library of Canada. We included some French materials (primarily government broadsides) as well as English.

Thanks, Deborah! I've known for years that those liturgies were present in STC, but I'd never actually considered the subsequent implications regarding STC's scope. In England or territories, in English, OR for use in England, apparently. :-)

I learned something new today about the scope of Pollard & Redgrave's STC (and thus of the ESTC): it includes ecclesiastical service books, wherever printed, for use in England and Scotland. The question came from Caroline Duroselle-Melish, our curator of early modern books and prints, who wanted to know why breviaries in Latin with Paris imprints had STC numbers. The answer: they were Sarum rite, i.e., according to the use in Salisbury.
