Thanks, Erin. That's helpful. Someone off list told me that press corrections are something else.

Sounds to me like you have in hand an example of "Cancel leaves" and "Cancel slips" (or the broader term "Cancellation"). See https://rbms.info/vocabularies/printing-publishing/th288.htm for the hierarchy.

The note would be something like "With a cancel leaf pasted over [page x] and slip cancels on [page y]" with "page x" and "page y" given in terms of signature marks, if feasible (e.g. "cancel leaf pasted over B2 recto and slip cancels on D4 verso"). Because cancel leaves can also be inserted as replacements for leaves that are cut out, I think it's worth mentioning that this cancel is pasted over one side of the original leaf.

If you really want to go to town, and it can be determined, you could say what was cancelled (e.g., With slip cancels on D4 verso changing "this" to "that", "something" to "something else", and "whatever" to "yada-yada-yada"). And if you do go that route, remember that this is a case where DCRM(B) and Chicago Manual of Style say punctuation needs to be outside the quotation marks unless the punctuation is part of the quoted text, e.g., With slip cancel on D4 verso changing "this." to "that,".

Is "Press corrections" the right rbpri heading for when a corrected sheet of some size has been pasted over the original printed sheet? The book I just cataloged has one page that is completely covered and another that just has several words covered.
Thanks,
