In consultation with the Rare Books and Manuscripts Section (RBMS) Bibliographic Standards Committee of ACRL, OCLC has exempted from Duplicate Detection and Resolution (DDR) processing all bibliographic records that have any one of some 24 MARC Description Convention Source Codes for rare and archival materials in field 040 subfield $e. In issuing Technical Notice (September 28, 2016), the Library of Congress has approved the new code "dcrmmss" for Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials (Manuscripts) (DCRM(MSS)) (Chicago: Rare Books and Manuscripts Section of the Association of College and Research Libraries). This new code should be added to list of codes exempted from DDR processing, in the method checkRareMaterials.
