As was previously announced, the Controlled Vocabularies Editorial Group instituted a moratorium on the submission of new terms to the RBMS thesauri for the duration of our current project to create an integrated thesaurus for publication as linked data. There has been some question, however, as to whether the moratorium applied to the RBMS Relationship Designators.

The Editorial Group has decided that the moratorium does not apply to the RBMS Relationship Designators, as they are a separate resource and are not impacted by the integration work. We are accepting submissions of new term recommendations and will be reviewing terms that have been suggested since the moratorium was announced. The form for submitting new terms is available on the RBMS Controlled Vocabularies website<https://www.rbms.info/vocabularies/>, or can be found here: https://www.rbms.info/vocabularies/form_thesaurus_term_proposal.shtml

We are also beginning a project to write scope notes for those relationship designators that do not currently have them. As we work through the list, we will announce newly scoped terms to the community via RBMS-L and DCRM-L and we will post the proposed scope notes on the Editorial Group's blog, as was the practice with the genre term scope notes project.

If you have any questions about suggesting a new Relationship Designator or about the scope note project, please feel free to contact me at brenna.bychowski at yale.edu<mailto:brenna.bychowski at yale.edu>.

on behalf of the RBMS Controlled Vocabularies Editorial Group
