It is Yale practice (as elsewhere?) to record Material type in 245 $k, preceded by a colon. This mimics examples in MARC 245 guidance:

$aFour years at Yale :$kdiaries,$f1903 Sept. 16-1907 Oct. 5.

$aThe charity ball :$ba comedy in four acts :$ktypescript,$f1889 /$cby David Belasco and Henry C. DeMille.

It's also in line with the guidance in DCRM(Mss) 1A1:

Precede the material type by a colon.

Francis

Subject: [DCRM-L] MARC coding for DCRM(MSS)

Let's try this again.

Where can we find guidance for marc coding for dcrm(mss)? Particularly, which delimiter to use to introduce Material type (1D).

Thanks,
Deborah
