Just keep in mind that the abbreviation does not get expanded when transcribed in the imprint, the "r" just gets lowered to the line, "I. Flaxman, Junr."

Bonus trivia: the artist is known as "FLAX-MAN! The Linen Superhero!" in my household thanks to my husband having seen the all-caps surname on a file folder in my Rare Book School teaching materials.

Erin.

Hi Sarah,

I take this to be an abbreviation of "Junior" relating to the name I. Flaxman which immediately precedes it. That is, John Flaxman, Junior.

Good Afternoon All,

I am cataloging a book and I came across the word "Junr." which appears before the date on the title page. The 'r' is raised about the rest of the text. Does anyone know what this means? I thought maybe it could be some kind of shorthand or a designation for a dating system.

I have included pictures! Please let me know if you can offer any insight.

Here is the OCLC #: 123296395

Many thanks,
