[DCRM-L] Genre term for "flap illustrations" or "flap prints"

Thank you all who replied. I think “Metamorphic pictures” from RBMS Genre Terms and “Mechanical works” from TGM are what I’ll go with. And yes Matthew, do propose a source code for “Thesaurus of Ephemera Terms” please!

It takes a village to tag an item.

The Thesaurus of Ephemera Terms has "Flap images." http://blogs.reading.ac.uk/typography-at-reading/files/2014/07/Ephemera-Thesaurus.pdf

There isn't currently source code for the purposes of using this thesaurus in a MARC 655 field, but I am considering proposing one.

Hi all,

Hmmm, I seem to have asked a similar question back in 2008. I have a lithographic print with a “flap illustration” –the flap is designed to be lifted or moved to reveal another image or joke behind. “Flap books” or “Flap illustration” seem to be accepted descriptive terms with literary warrant (“Encyclopedia of empherema” by Maurice Rickards) but I’m struggling to find an appropriate sanctioned controlled vocabulary term.

Here is an example by the same publisher:

A search of the usual controlled vocabulary suspects (AAT, RBMS, LCTGM) yield terms for books with moving parts, but not individual prints

AAT: Moveable books ; Pop-up books
RBMS Genre Terms seems to only have “Flip books” –which is not remotely appropriate for this.

Any suggestions? Another term I have overlooked?

Thank you.
