***Please excuse cross-postings. All are welcome to apply, nominate, and/or
self-nominate!**Sharing on behalf of the series planning group.*

Good afternoon,

We are writing to solicit nominations for speakers for the continuation of
the Jobs & Hiring Series, which will take place in August 2021. There are
three remaining panels, which will each have between 3 and 5 speakers.
Please nominate a colleague, or yourself, here, by the end of the day on
Wednesday, June 30: forms.gle/UWAjxi3HN38mWRke8
Since the dates and times are firm, nominees must be available for the
panel date and time outlined below.

The final three planned panels are:

Resumes & Cover Letters - August 3, 2-3pm Eastern
This panel will discuss the process of crafting cover letters and resumes
for GLAMS and related jobs; considerations, advice, and issues.

Mid-Career Changes - August 10, 2-3pm Eastern
This session will allow panelists to discuss changing careers, either
within GLAMS and related jobs, or to other types of fields and professions.

[Under/Over]qualified: The Question of More Degrees - August 17, 2-3pm
Eastern
This panel will begin to address the issues of more degrees in GLAMS and
related careers. How should we think about whether or not to return to
school, and the usefulness of multiple degrees in our jobs?

Please circulate this call for nominations widely--we are actively
interested in recruiting people with diverse experiences and identities who
work in GLAMS (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums, and Special
Collections) and GLAMS-adjacent careers (such as booksellers). In selecting
speakers, we will strive for as balanced a representation of race, color,
religion or creed, national origin or ancestry, religion or creed, gender
identity and expression, sexual orientation, age, ability, and citizenship
as possible. Nominees do not need to be members of RBMS, ACRL, or ALA to
participate. Nominations will be reviewed, and invitations made to speak by
members of a planning group convened for this purpose.

Planning Group Members:

Alison Clemens (RBMS Diversity Committee)
Beth DeBold (RBMS M&PD Committee; RBMS Security Committee)
Christine Jacobson (RBMS M&PD Committee)
Christine Lutz (RBMS Workshops Committee)
Diane Dias de Fazio (RBMS M&PD Committee)
E. Haven Hawley (RBMS member)
Elisabeth Lisa Cruces (RBMS member)
Erika Jenns (RBMS M&PD Committee)
Julie Cismoski (RBMS Workshops Committee; RBMS IOC Committee)
Julie Tanaka (RBMS member)
Sarah Burke Cahalan (RBMS member)

Committee members will extend invites as soon as possible in July and will
follow up with speakers who accept the invitations to schedule an hour-long
pre-planning meeting for each panel prior to the session date.

Please note that these panels will be recorded and made publicly available
on ACRL's YouTube channel, and will have subtitles provided through the
automatic closed captioning feature in Zoom. Panelists will be asked to
sign a speaker agreement prepared by ACRL outlining the terms under which
the presentation will be made, as are any speakers who are invited to
present at ACRL-sponsored events.

A separate email with information on how to register for these sessions
will be forthcoming in July. Please direct any questions or concerns to
members of the planning group.

Many thanks,

Beth DeBold, on behalf of the planning group
