[DCRM-L] OCLC/Streamlined Holdings Registration + special collections records

Hi folks,

My library is engaged in a Streamlined Holdings Registration project with
OCLC.

OCLC reps are recommending that we "avoid sending the special collection
records if you don’t want other libraries to request the items."

Obviously, our special collections materials don't go out on ILL, but I
don't understand why we wouldn't want our cataloged special collections
holdings to show up in OCLC/Worldcat. Can anyone who has been through this
process share some info about how they handled special collections records?

Many thanks,
Gina
