[DCRM-L] leaves pasted together to form a single leaf

Hello Noah,
I checked our copy of this book but in our copy N1 is a single leaf. My guess is that perhaps because N1 contains an engraving that it was felt that that particular engraved plate needed a thicker paper stock. However, as there are engravings throughout the book which were made on single leaves that doesn't really make good sense.
Cheers,
Eric

Subject: [DCRM-L] leaves pasted together to form a single leaf

Hi all,
Today I encountered a book where, in at least one place, the printer seems to have taken two leaves, each blank on one side, and pasted the blank sides together, resulting in a single (but doubly thick) leaf, with text on both sides. The signatures and pagination are as it would be if it were a normal single leaf. I only noticed because the two leaves have mostly separated in our copy, and are only partially pasted together. Does anyone know anything about this practice and how to describe it?
The book is A relation of a iourney begun an: Dom: 1610, the third edition (1627), if you happen to have a copy at your library. Leaf N1 (pages 133-134).
