Colleagues please consider taking the time to participate in a survey outlining your work with Distinctive/Special Collections. Your responses will help us better understand how distinctive/special collections cataloging, metadata practices, and workflows are organized across peer institutions.
This survey is designed to capture current staffing structures, metadata standards, processing workflows, technology use, and security practices related to special and distinctive collections. Findings will be used to identify common approaches, surface emerging best practices, and inform future planning and collaboration.
The survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. All responses are confidential and will be reported only in aggregate. There are no right or wrong answers - we are interested in how your organization actually operates.
For the purposes of our investigation, our organization is defining Distinctive/Special Collections as the following:
Physical, digital, published, or unpublished materials that in the professional assessment of UC stewards have the intellectual, emotional, evidentiary, institutional, historical, and/or monetary value that necessitates their prioritization for long-term preservation and access.
