[DCRM-L] Vocabulary question: Leaves or Folios/Pages/Spreads for Ledger

Individual leaves within a book or manuscript are identified for reference
by folio or page numbers, and a finished sheet when folded halfwise
produces folios or leaves which can be assembled into gatherings; but
foliation, like pagination, has to do with the series of numbers added to
leaves for identification, not for determining material or format. Of
course Erin is right in speaking of a “double-page spread shows a
single-numbered opening” and you have good case for referring to leaves in
this context, in my view.
