Hello,

The chief editors of the RBMS RDA Editorial Group, under the aegis of the RBMS Bibliographic Standards Committee, wish to alert users of Examples to Accompany Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials (Serials) to an update to the text:

In early 2023, the Editorial Group removed Example 2 from the text because the example used hate literature to illustrate Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials (Serials) cataloging rules. Although the original editors of Examples unequivocally oppose hate literature, and included the example only for illustrative purposes, the Editorial Group determined that, under no circumstances, should hate literature be reproduced in or linked to from our cataloging tools. The RBMS RDA Editorial Group is committed to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, and will carefully consider examples included in current and future DCRM publications to ensure that they align with these principles.

We apologize to all users of Examples for the inclusion of this example. The updated version of the text can be found in the ALA Institutional Repository<https://urldefense.com/v3/__http:/hdl.handle.net/11213/19708__;!!OToaGQ!qgjlIceruJb8-Va3fFGKvHDlpK84DVSiNlSUu9xwpcv3jbj3aTf42OJQ15Y1gUOGYxxQUgd5KIlzkr3kvhY3fi_gepjetw$>. The Editorial Group has maintained the original numbering of the examples and appended an "Revision note" (with the above text) to the original introduction.

If you have questions, comments, or concerns, please reach out to Liz Adams (elizabeth.adams at duke.edu<mailto:elizabeth.adams at duke.edu>) and Jessica Grzegorski (grzegorskij at newberry.org<mailto:grzegorskij at newberry.org>), the chief editors of DCRMR.

Regards,

Liz Adams and Jessica Grzegorski
