[DCRM-L] OCLC November Virtual AskQC Office Hours: You are invited

Hello everyone,



If you are sometimes called upon to catalog unpublished resources, you may find yourself scrolling through unfamiliar parts of BFAS in search of how to record a URL for a finding aid or how to say that you have a letter handwritten in ink. Although we cannot promise you the cataloging knowledge that can only be gained through experience, we can offer two days in November 2023 for "MARC Fields for Manuscripts and Archival Collections."  Join us on either Tuesday, November 7 at 10 AM (Eastern time) or Thursday, November 16 at 4 PM (Eastern time), whichever is more convenient for you, when Kate James (that's me!) will provide an overview of WorldCat bibliographic records for manuscripts and archival collections. You will learn the appropriate OCLC Fixed Field values and MARC fields to record elements such as physical medium, production method, and system of organization. There will be examples using various descriptive standards and controlled vocabularies appropriate for archival resources.
