[DCRM-L] Question about a unique binding/structure

Hi Deborah,
Yes, each binding functions independently. They are two separate volumes that may have been purchased at different times due to varying imprint dates.

I've never seen anything like this, either. But then I don't have a lot of contact with post -1830 books. Is each binding completely functional on its own? ???

Subject: [DCRM-L] Question about a unique binding/structure

Good morning all, and apologies for any duplication--

I've come across a unique book structure that I was hoping for some insight on. The catalog record for the book in question is here: https://utah-primoprod.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/permalink/f/1rn6k8i/UUU_ALMA21265423680002001<https://url.us.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/o26yCkRjqgtKzKLf2kPaa?domain=utah-primoprod.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com>

It is a miniature book of common prayer that is ?bound-with? a book of hymnals?but they are actually two separate volumes with their own bindings. The first book has a pocket on the back cover where you?re supposed to slide the cover of the second book in and combine them, once you?ve got both. I?ve never seen something like this; is there a term for this style? I?ve attached a few pictures via a dropbox folder link below:

Many thanks in advance for your insights!
