I've never seen anything like this, either. But then I don't have a lot of contact with post -1830 books. Is each binding completely functional on its own?

Subject: [DCRM-L] Question about a unique binding/structure

Good morning all, and apologies for any duplication--

I've come across a unique book structure that I was hoping for some insight on. The catalog record for the book in question is here: https://utah-primoprod.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/permalink/f/1rn6k8i/UUU_ALMA21265423680002001<https://url.us.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/o26yCkRjqgtKzKLf2kPaa?domain=utah-primoprod.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com>

It is a miniature book of common prayer that is “bound-with” a book of hymnals—but they are actually two separate volumes with their own bindings. The first book has a pocket on the back cover where you’re supposed to slide the cover of the second book in and combine them, once you’ve got both. I’ve never seen something like this; is there a term for this style? I’ve attached a few pictures via a dropbox folder link below:

Many thanks in advance for your insights!
