I can't comment on the intent of the deletion of 1.4D10 for the next edition of AACR2, but I do have some thoughts about the imprint transcription rules in DCRB vs. AACR. I believe DCRB is clear on what to include and what to omit, and how to show omission in the publication, distribution area.  (Whether it's clear enough is for other, newer rare book catalogers to say).

As to DCRB conforming with basic AACR, we might be able to make an argument that it conforms with the AACR's spirit. Given that precise t.p. transcription is needed for accurate description and identification of hand-pressed books (or to cite the FRBR user tasks: "finding, identifying, and selecting"), we can't cut down there. However, we do generally omit addresses, with the mark of omission. 

Re the examples on 2.16 D & E, I like having a combination of initials and abbreviated and full names, to demonstrate that we do transcribe what's there, (like "John Baskerville" or "Robt. Parker"), and do not expand forename initials. Perhaps changing the first example of 'R. Barker' so that it shows a full name would eliminate remaining confusion. After we have the text of DCRM(B), it might be worth reviewing AACR chapter 2 on older monographs, and making recommendations for change if needed. How much use does AACR2 chapter 2 for older monographs get, I wonder?
