[DCRM-L] Call for Comments: BIBCO Standard Record for Rare Books

Attached you will find a draft of the proposed BIBCO Standard Record for Rare Books.  This draft is in response to a charge from PCC to "define a set of required elements for bibliographic records for monographic rare books using a single encoding level."   The draft is the work of  Task Group members Marcia Barrett, Jain Fletcher, Robert Maxwell, and Ann Myers.

The following tasks are also included in the charge:  "The Task Group will develop a model for bibliographic records using a single encoding level to replace the historic BIBCO Full and Core levels for rare books.  The Task Group should use both the current BIBCO Standard Record and the Core record elements as starting points.  They may supply questions and answers for the BSR FAQ that will assist rare book catalogers, whether or not they are BIBCO catalogers."

We welcome comments on the draft BIBCO Standard Record for Rare Books and will discuss incorporating feedback before sending the draft to the Bibliographic Standards Committee for approval.
