Not sure why this came to me, but I didn't want to reply without
consulting the wider group. Am I correct that the use of superscripts
is not required?
Would someone like to respond to this message?

Subject: question about dcrm (B) rule 7b9 signatures

Mr. Attig,
I'm working cataloging rare books and the library will use Descriptive
Cataloging of Rare Materials (Books) (DCRM(B)).
My question is:
in the rule 7b9 the signatures, put superindice at numbers, for example:
[A]³ B-C² D¹ 1-8²
but in the library we use CDS/ISIS and just admit ascii code only until
alt+255, and we can't to write numbers like superindice 4 or 6 or 8.
We see that some libraries had use *. For example: [A]3 B-C2 D1 1-8*2
Is correct to use this notation form? or, there is another way to write
the notation for signatures?
Thank you very much.
PS: Sorry for my english.
