I agree! The note probably has wide applicability, too, both within and beyond the cataloging community (just think how useful it could be in politics, for instance).

Eeek! Quick follow-up to Maria's post script: the Celebriducks records in Hamnet are (at the moment) just preliminary accession records, as is the record for the William Shakespeare action figure . They've just now been updated to reflect our current practice, where the template used by the Acquisitions Dept. automatically generates an HBCN ("Handy Butt-Cover Note") reading "This record represents material that has not yet been cataloged.
