[DCRM-L] Standard Citation form for Online resources

Sorry, I should've been clearer. I was asking about the form of an online source citation in a 510 citation note, not the 670 in an authorities record. (then I would include the "date viewed")
E.g.
510 4_ VD-16 vs.
510 4_ VD-16 (online)
Which distinguishes the print version from the online, but
510 4_ VD-17
Is ok without an "online" qualifier? It does not have an analog counterpart to my knowledge, so it seems redundant.
Cheers,
Dorothy Auyong

I lean toward letting the date that an online resource was viewed, which should be part of the 670, as ample identification of its being an online resource. (Speaking for myself.)

I know this discussion has circulated before, but barring access to the long awaited Standards Citation Forms update, I have to throw myself on the collective memory/wisdom of the list.
What is the current preferred qualifier for citing online bibliographic databases?
Early proposals suggested "(WWW)" (or is lower case "www" preferred?) but that seems dated to me now. I think "(online)" was also proposed.
Also if a resource ONLY exists online (such as VIAF, or the ESTC) do we need to specify that we accessed it online?
E.g.
VD-16 vs.
VD-16 (online)
to distinguish the print version from online version
vs. VD-17 which only exists online. Should it be qualified as an online only resource? That seems redundant.
Thank you.
