Option 2--not required for rare books, scores OR serials. (Note: "not required for rare monographs" doesn't cover it either way--not all monographs are codex books (AV materials are usually monographs) and serials don't typically require an 007 either.)

In other words, 007 should be required for the same categories as it is required for non-rare materials. I don't see a rare reason to differ.

Colleagues

I've only received a handful of comments about this (see my email from 2/28/2014). Opinion is split between requiring the 007 for all materials and only requiring 007 for non-monographic materials. Since not everyone weighed in, how about a straw poll?

Option 1: 007 should be required for all rare materials regardless of format Option 2: 007 should not be required for rare monographs

A quick response will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Nina
