The Introduction on the first page of each thesauri should answer all your questions; examples are also provided.
For example, on the coding of $2 in the Printing and Publishing Thesaurus:
Each field must close with a subfield $2 ("source of access term"). The Library of Congress has assigned the codes "rbpri" and "rbpub" to these thesauri. Fields using terms preceded by "A" in the alphabetical list should close with subfield $2 "rbpri"; those preceded by "B" should end with subfield $2 "rbpub". Codes should always correspond with the parenthetical qualifier used in subfield $a: "rbpri" with "(Printing)" and "rbpub" with ("Publishing)".
An example of the application of a subdivided term:
655 $a Signing patterns (Printing) $z Germany $y 18th century $2 rbpri
rbpri is the $2 code used for a Printing term
rbpub is the $2 code used with a Publishing term
rbgenr is the $2 code used with a Genre term, etc. etc.
Thanks for using the RBMS vocabulary terms

Subject: [DCRM-L] Subfields for 655 7
Greetings, I want to include some 655s for genre and binding terms from the RBMS controlled vocabularies in a dcrm record I am creating for an English grammar for French-speakers from 1756.
What should I put in $2? OCLC does not like $2 rbms
Thanks for your help!
