Could be worse, you could have the 37-volume edition ;)
I like Allison Rich's example of two 500 notes, one that begins
"Pagination:" and one that begins "Signatures:".
When it's all in the same 500 note, it's harder to figure out, because
users are accustomed to seeing the label at the start of a Signatures note.
See http://hamnet.folger.edu/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?BBID=174459 for an
example of one that, in retrospect, would probably have benefitted from
having separate notes.
And just in case someone at the Folger does go back and edit it, here's
what's there as of 2020-07-24, for the benefit of anyone reading this in
the DCRM-L Archives:
Vol. 1. Signatures: A¹² (-A12) B¹² C⁶ D-T¹². Pagination: [2], li, [5], 383,
[1] p., [7] leaves of plates -- v. 2. Signatures: A-Q¹². Pagination: 384
p., [5] leaves of plates -- v. 3. Signatures: A-T¹²; T12 blank. Pagination:
454 p., [5] leaves of plates -- v. 4. Signatures: A-T¹² U¹² (-U11-12).
Pagination: 476 p., [5] leaves of plates -- v. 5. Signatures: A-R¹².
Pagination: 408 p., [4] leaves of plates -- v. 6. Signatures: A-P¹².
Pagination: 360 p., [4] leaves of plates -- v. 7. A-P¹² Q⁶. Pagination:
371, [1] p., [4] leaves of plates -- v. 8. Signatures: A-S¹² T-Z⁶ 2A⁶
(-2A6). Pagination: 427, [75] p., [4] leaves of plates -- v. 9. Signatures:
A-S¹². Pagination: 426, [6] p., [7] leaves of plates -- v. 10. Signatures:
A⁶ B-U¹². Pagination: xii, 453, [3] p., [2] leaves of plates.
Cheers,
Erin.
