This is what I was told in the search committee meeting just now.

The new head of tech services at the main library is extremely anti-MARC.
It makes me a bit agitated to be honest.

I would like to hear the timeframe from an "official" source.

I haven’t heard the LC is abandoning MARC this fall. The message continues to be one of transition over a number of years.  One change is that, within LC, bibliographic records created in the local MARC-based cataloging module will start to flow into the Bibframe system as well as the OPAC, rather than entering catalog records separately in two systems.

Hi all:

"MARC needs to go. People have known that for twenty years".

I am involved in a search committee for candidates for head of metadata at my university.
I love MARC. What I have been of Bibframe (lack of controlled vocab), I am not terribly fond of.

Apparently LC is going to abandon MARC in October or November of next year.
How are cataloguers who use DCRM standards planning on dealing with this?
Is RBMS planning for this almost looking change?
And what are some resources which are available to us DCRM cataloguers ?

How do you feel about this impending change?
