[DCRM-L] Fund information, for the online catalog

Hi Francis:

We make local title added entries for our endowment funds. This method is helpful for searching, but not necessarily clear which copy the fund applies to when we have multiple copies. It is also messy, when multiple endowment funds are used to purchase a higher price item.

  *   Procedure: https://tpot.ucsd.edu/description/general-policies-and-procedures/endowments.html
  *   Example record: https://search-library.ucsd.edu/permalink/01UCS_SDI/ld412s/alma991004323219706535

Colleagues,

When you want fund information to display in the online catalog, what field do you use? My instinct is to find a home for it in field 541 of the Holdings record<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.loc.gov_marc_holdings_hd541.html&d=DwMFaQ&c=-35OiAkTchMrZOngvJPOeA&r=oqbiXK75H927GHW0ZmfaUxECUhoclhckn8sOhF1Xo68&m=ASU1_Kxpm4aCQqKJ_YWSQVWH6fls27GLCFVYWyuYF39p1SpKYTXaVXdQqFbdfBtE&s=IoVQ_quHVLs6Y5fsuHepyWsZhyWvxJDBIO9OUmZUB5A&e=>, but the semantics of 541 subfields are all imperfect matches. In my ideal world, the fund data would display in alignment with the pertinent holding and it would be indexed as a search facet.

What do others do?

Thanks,
Francis
