The RBMS Bibliographic Standards Committee’s Program Planning Group will be hosting a panel on reparative description and controlled vocabularies and thesauri. In this lightly moderated panel, we will hear from people involved in creating or editing/remediating controlled vocabularies: Michelle J. Cronquist and Staci Ross from the African-American Subject Funnel Project<https://www.loc.gov/aba/pcc/saco/aframerfun.html>; Lillian Castillo-Speed from the Chicano Thesauru<http://eslibrary.berkeley.edu/chicano-studies-collection>s; Shavonn Matsuda, from Lau Ā Lau Ka ʻIke<https://www.laualaukaike.org/>; and Ryan Hildebrand from the RBMS Controlled Vocabulary Editorial Group<https://rbms.info/vocabularies/index.shtml>’s Prejudicial Materials Group.

Speakers will discuss their projects, how these vocabularies or thesauri can be used – especially to redress pejorative or harmful terminology – and their process is for including and choosing among terms.
