[DCRM-L] manuscript collation

What a fun thing to catalog! I'm no expert in manuscript collation, or in full-sheet formats, so for what it's worth, since it is appears to be quired, I'd record the collation.
I'm not entirely sure what's going on here: [K]4 (K4 + [chi]1. Does it signify that the fifth leaf is physically attached to K4 instead of just inserted between the quires? Is there a reason it shouldn't be recorded as K5. For folded sheets that wouldn't be accurate, but for a full-sheet format I'm not seeing anything wrong with it.
Under current rules, it's format is (full-sheet) in the 300$c. Completely unsigned gatherings are assigned numbers instead of letters. So:
Signatures: [1-98] [105] [11-228] [235].
One of those persnickety niceties for completely unsigned codexes —akin to knowing how to use "whom" correctly—is that the superscript numeral goes inside the square brackets.

Subject: [DCRM-L] manuscript collation
Hello,
I am cataloging a gradual from the 1600s. I have never cataloged something like this. It came with some notes that I am not sure how to add to the bib record. The notes say, "Because of the book's large size, each leaf required a separate piece of vellum, so we can fairly call it a 1mo format. But the singleton leaves were attached to each other in pairs and quired together mostly in groups of eight leaves. One can therefore make a sort of collational formula, keeping in mind that its "quires' are in fact groups of singleton leaves: [A]-[I]8 [K]4 (K4 + [chi]1) [L]-[Y]8 [Z]6=179 ll., lacking Z6."
I would greatly appreciate any advice!
Thank you,
Colleen
